A flint-built downland village east of Clanfield, beneath Chalton Windmill on Windmill Hill.
Chalton is a small downland village immediately east of Clanfield, on the far side of the A3. It is best known for Chalton Windmill, which stands on Windmill Hill at 193 metres above sea level and overlooks Clanfield — the windmill lends its name to several Clanfield features, including Windmill Garage.
The village has a flint-built character typical of the chalk downland, with historic houses, a village pub and the medieval church. The surrounding fields and Chalton Down, with its bowl barrows, are part of the South Downs and popular with walkers on the long-distance footpaths that pass through.
Chalton is reached from Clanfield via Chalton Lane, which bridges the A3.
